Why these defaults?

The country code comes from ISO 3166. Unicode CLDR supplies presentation-oriented locale, currency, paper, date, language, calendar, numbering, and direction metadata. Defaults reduce setup time; they do not decide what a valid document must contain.

Document vocabulary and checks

Core Jersey GST invoice, correction-note, supplier-registration, six-year retention and separate GST-return boundaries are reviewed from Revenue Jersey. Retail-scheme, self-billing, reverse-charge, import/export and sector-specific cases remain transaction-specific checks. Jersey rules are sourced independently and are not inherited from the United Kingdom.

  • Required when applicable: A Jersey GST-registered business must issue a GST invoice when it supplies taxable goods or services. A full invoice identifies itself as a tax invoice and shows the tax point and issue date when different; supplier name, address and GST registration number; customer name; individual serial number; description; selling price; whether GST applies; GST rate and amount; and the GST-inclusive price.Evidence JE_REVENUE_GST_RECORDS, JE_REVENUE_GST_INVOICE_DIRECTION · reviewed 2026-07-19 · review by 2027-01-19 · automation advisory only
  • Guidance: A registered supplier may use a GST credit or debit note when a supply is cancelled, changed, repriced or returned and the original GST invoice's tax was incorrect. A credit note reduces output and input tax; a debit note increases them. It cannot cancel a supply merely because the customer has not paid.Evidence JE_REVENUE_GST_RECORDS · reviewed 2026-07-19 · review by 2027-01-19 · automation advisory only
  • Required when applicable: Retain Jersey GST records for six years after the period to which they relate. Computerised records must be printable on request, and the business must be able to explain third-party or off-island accounting systems to Revenue Jersey officers.Evidence JE_REVENUE_GST_RECORDS · reviewed 2026-07-19 · review by 2027-01-19 · automation advisory only
  • Guidance: Revenue Jersey's current GST process separates invoices and accounting evidence from the GST return. Registered businesses submit the return and pay GST through Revenue Jersey's service; this local printable document does not submit a GST return, register the supplier, or transmit invoice data to Revenue Jersey.Evidence JE_REVENUE_GST_RECORDS, JE_REVENUE_GST_RETURN · reviewed 2026-07-19 · review by 2027-01-19 · automation advisory only
