Why these defaults?
The country code comes from ISO 3166. Unicode CLDR supplies presentation-oriented locale, currency, paper, date, language, calendar, numbering, and direction metadata. Defaults reduce setup time; they do not decide what a valid document must contain.

Tax labels: Business Gross Revenue Tax. Business identifier labels: CNMI taxpayer identification number.
- Required when applicable: CNMI law requires a sale receipt for every sale producing gross revenue. Implementing rules require sequential numbering plus the business name, sale date (and time for machine receipts), description, total and payment terms; the electronic/device form also includes the business address.Evidence MP_SALES_RECEIPT_ACT, MP_RECEIPT_REGULATIONS · reviewed 2026-07-20 · review by 2027-01-20 · automation advisory only
- Required when applicable: The Sale Receipt Act requires the receipt system to preserve a sale record for Department of Finance inspection and generate a customer copy. The reviewed source does not state a universal retention duration, so no period is inferred.Evidence MP_SALES_RECEIPT_ACT · reviewed 2026-07-20 · review by 2027-01-20 · automation advisory only
- Guidance: CNMI administrative rules separately require merchandise invoices presented to customs to be prepared in English before arrival. A local sales receipt is not automatically a customs invoice or a US federal/state tax invoice.Evidence MP_DOF_ADMIN_CODE · reviewed 2026-07-20 · review by 2027-01-20 · automation advisory only
