Country-aware checks
- Tax terminology: VSK (VAT)
- Business ID label: Kennitala / VAT Number
- Iceland Revenue and Customs says VAT invoices are issued for taxable sales and include the issue date, purchaser and seller name and kennitala, seller VAT number, sale type, quantity, unit and total price, consecutively pre-numbered invoice identity, whether VAT is included, and the VAT amount. Exempt sellers must not imply VAT is included.
- Iceland's VAT Act requires books, settlements and data related to VAT returns to be safeguarded for seven years from the close of the relevant accounting year. Other accounting, audit or dispute rules can extend practical retention.
- Iceland regulates electronic invoices and electronic accounting, including authenticity, traceability, storage and system requirements. Regulation 44/2019 requires public authorities to receive EN 16931 electronic invoices for covered public contracts. This preview does not generate a compliant electronic accounting artifact, determine public-procurement scope, or transmit through an electronic delivery network.
